About

We built this because the alternative is a folder nobody can open.

Torchpass is a trading name of Web Hero Limited, a UK company that builds websites and software for small businesses.

Why

We are the customer.

We run a small agency. Dozens of client businesses depend on infrastructure that, realistically, one or two people can reach. We went looking for something that would let us hand that over safely if the worst happened, and found two options: a password manager's emergency access, which is all-or-nothing and immediate, or a solicitor's envelope, which is neither current nor usable at 2am.

What was missing was the middle: staged, revocable, tested, and impossible for anyone — including us — to open early.

Not a password manager

Emergency access hands over everything at once, to one person, on a fixed timer. Real handovers are staged, and different people need different things.

Not a will

A will settles ownership months later. It does not renew a domain next Tuesday, and it does not tell anyone which subscription is load-bearing.

Not a shared vault

Anything a client already controls, they already control. The waiting period and the confirmation are the product — not the storage, and certainly not a vault of your passwords.

Principles

Commitments we would rather not be able to break.

Anyone can write a values page. These are the ones enforced by how the thing is built, which is the only kind that survives a bad quarter.

  1. 01

    We cannot read your plan

Not "we choose not to". We hold no key that opens it, so there is no internal process, no support escalation and no legal instrument that produces your plaintext.

  2. 02

    It works without us

Every pack prints, and a printed pack needs nothing from us. Our going under should be an inconvenience for you rather than a catastrophe for the people relying on you.

  3. 03

Stopping is always easier than starting

Any one person you named can stop a release, at any point, without giving a reason. Advancing one takes all of them, plus a waiting period. That asymmetry is deliberate and permanent.

  4. 04

    Your people are never charged

Being named is free, and so is opening a pack somebody else already paid for. We will not put a payment wall in front of a grieving person or a stranded business.

The company

Who you're actually dealing with.

Torchpass is a trading name of Web Hero Limited, registered in England and Wales. If you need company registration details, VAT number or a registered address for due diligence, ask and we'll send them.

We're a small team and we answer our own support. There is no tier at which you reach someone who can open your plan, because no such person exists.

Fifteen minutes now.
Clarity forever.

Your first client takes about as long as writing the email you would have sent them anyway.
